I don't really have anything funny to tell or any news to share so I'm just gonna write whatever is on my mind...Some of it might be tmi...TMI, put since this is MY blog and these are MY stories...I can write whatever I want!
I have a new definition for unconditional love... it's when you are sitting in the bathroom, working on the number 2 and someone is rubbing themselves against your leg and asking for attention. Doesn't matter that it's potentially smelly. They sit on the floor facing the door like they are guarding the door and making sure no one comes in...and then they move outside on the rug and guard the whole area. That's Bailey for you. Apparently me being in the bathroom is a great stepmama-daughter bonding time. Doesn't matter that it smells...as long as you are able to reach her and pet her that's all that matters to her. (Mind you we do not do this reverse because...well, it just isn't cute!) Bailey, as scared as everything as she is, has the biggest, most loving heart...If you have seen Shrek and the scene where Puss in Boots is introduced and he looks at Shrek (or could be the Donkey) with those BIG sad whoa-is-me-eyes...that's what I wake up every day! (Puss attacks Shrek/Donkey in that scene...Bailey doesn't do that) Bailey just wants to be petted and for me to get up so that she can get food!
Anyway...tmi I'm sure!
I've had a headache since Monday and it became a full blown migraine on Tuesday. I didn't have anything to take for it at home so I thought I'd go to the pharmacy on my way to work. Since the weather was so nice, over 20 degrees C, I thought I'd put on my contact lenses and wear my sun classes. Not long after I put my contacts on I started to lose my eye sight, in my vision there were areas where I couldn't see and at the edge I started to see the zig zag pattern. I took the contacts off and left. Started to feel nauseous a little. I bought the pills, got a cup of coffee from DD and went to work. When I got there my headache was pounding and I felt like I was about to throw up. I stayed for like an half an hour before I realized I wouldn't be able to work so I left and went home. After I got out of the bus a wave of nausea just hit me. I threw up everything I had in me and then walked home, went to bed and put a wet, cold cloth over my head. That's where I stayed till T came home. Then yesterday my headache was still there and for the longest time felt like it wasn't going away. I did come to work because the "new-me", my replacement Rebeca was coming and I needed to show her what to do and how to do it (obviously my shoes are really hard to fill but she seems to get it. A quick study. And as my boss said..."this isn't brain surgery). I also had a presentation at my first class and there were other people presenting at my second class so I needed to be here. Got home around 11:30pm and now here I am at work again. Last day for this week. The 8th last day ever...at this job anyway! Last day of school is in 2 weeks...can you believe it!?!?!
Another "can you believe it" thing...Yesterday I had my first cup of coffee at 4:30pm! Can you believe it????It never happens. I did have a headache which took away from my taste/need/want for coffee but still. Pretty good for me.
I'll try to blog again soon...Later!

gym and job and this and that
So a week ago we decided to join the gym around the corner from us. T has been missing the gym since her power skank house gym in the city was closed down, bankrupt, went under...whatever and she was only working out twice a week with her trainer. As for me...I've been laying low for the past 19 months since moving to the states and even a free gym access at the school didn't help me so we thought it would be a good idea to workout together. Now T is a hardcore bad ass when it comes to working out. She does not F around...she printed out some circuit workouts and off we went on Saturday morning at 8am. I was so done that I was only able to finish 4 of the 5 circuits (each consisted of 3 different exercises) before feeling nauseated and having to go rest and catch my breath at the locker room. I hadn't eaten anything beforehand so I was also hungry and physically tired afterwards. We went to Dunkin Donuts, got some breakfast, took a shower and relaxed for the rest of the day. We did go to Target to get a George Foreman grill because we wanna make healthier food and we've been talking about it for awhile. We haven't tried it yet because the fridge is full of leftover but soon...but back to my gym story!
I was walking like a duck yesterday and my ass, thighs and chest were hurting! We didn't go to the gym on Sunday even though we were thinking about that. Chasing after Carly at T's moms yesterday was plenty of exercise. Carly is walking now so you need to be careful cuz if you leave her alone for one second, she's up the stairs so fast! On our way home we were talking about going to the gym this morning at 5:30 as T usually does in the mornings...I guess she was thinking I was full of it when I said I'd be there. Her alarm goes off, she goes to the bathroom and when she comes out I'm half way in my gym clothes...She's like OM, I wasn't thinking you were coming or I would have woken you up! So at 5 friggin forty am we're out of the house! we rode the bike 5 minutes for a warm up and did our 5 circuits. Boy is my ass hurting right now! It took us about an hour, we came back home, I made my coffee, fed the cats and T got ready for going to work. I dunno how she does it but she's s SUPERWOMAN! The dedication...Wow! After she was out of the door I finished watching Monk, took a shower, ate some breakfast and was out of the door at 9:10. I am gonna try to do this every Monday with her because the workout is so much more intense when you do it with someone else than by yourself. We are gonna try to workout 2-3 times a week together and the rest alone. I might go 4 times a week and when I go alone maybe do have cardio, half circuit or just cardio...since we joined a week ago on Monday (the first day of actual workout) I've been there 5 times now in 8 days! Are you impressed or what??? Tomorrow morning though...I'm sleeping in!
Moving on...About an hour ago my phone rang and now that I'm looking for a job I can't turn down phone calls... This is somewhat how the conversation went:
Woman: hello, is this Jenni
J: Yes
W: I'm calling about the resume you posted on Monster. Are you currently employed?
J: I'm graduating in May so I have 1 more month to go
W: From where are you graduating? High School or College?
J: From college with a Master's Degree
W: With what degree?
J: Environmental Management
W: Oh, that's a big one...So you don't have any work experience?
J: Actually I do and I'm currently working at the school also.
W: Oh, filing and Stuff?
J: Among other things
W: Oh ok...well let me tell you something about the company...we are something something company, and we provide supplemental insurance coverage for blah blah blah........
J: Actually I'm an international student and can only work on my major field of study so I cannot work for an insurance company.
W: oh, ok...bye
J: bye
Yeah...INSURANCE COMPANY!!! not that there's anything wrong with insurance company's calling but a) I cannot work for them, that's the law and b) before you call me READ MY RESUME!!! I mean seriously! I posted my resume so that I could find a job BUT I also spent hours on doing it so the LEAST you could do before you call me is to READ it and get to know my qualifications! ARGH!
But I'm over it now...
Gotta go back to work! Later

Last workday of the week
I still have 2 hours left but it's almost over. I haven't really done a lot of work today, in fact I just made one folder and the rest of the time I've been doing research for 2 papers I need to write. 4,5 weeks left of both school and work. Tomorrow I will go to the gym and apply for jobs. Exciting times!
The weather here is crazy! Today has been sunny, about 15 degrees C but with a chilly wind, or at least that's how it was when I left for work. Yesterday it was raining, SNOWING and sunny. Couldn't figure out what it was doing. One minute I'm wearing a winter jacket and the next just a sweatshirt. But the snow...ridiculous!
I need to give a shout out to Elviira and Marianne who are starring in LHJ's web page! I was doing some research for my paper and came upon the new and improved website for the company and there they were! Nice job girls! If you can send me one of those TV t-shirts and a new reusable shopping bag, I'd appreciate it! I can advertise in the US! Stenu and Tommi looked nice too! But where is JP? BTW, can one of you send me LHJ's annual reports electronically from 2004 and 2005 or even send them in the mail (I'm sure the advertising budget can handle that) I'd really appreciate it!
School is getting boring. Really REALLY boring! I only have 2 classes and the first one just makes me wanna kill myself! We have 5 book reviews due for the course but we are still going through the books during class chapter by chapter. Every chapter is presented by 2 or 3 people and they basically do not understand the concept of a "summary". With the time they take they could just read the whole friggin chapters! I don;t think we have actually been taught anything new during this class and I don't pay thousands of dollars to be listening other grad students do presentations or summaries! New, relevant information would be appreciated! The professor has been at the school since '69 so he is little behind...
Anyway...We joined a gym near us on Sunday. T wanted to get back to a gym after her power skank gym closed. I do have access to the school gym but unfortunately my lazy ass got there only once. With lunch, books, notes and stuff I don't wanna carry a big ass back pack to work full of gym clothes as well so this is good. I can walk there in the morning, workout with T during the weekends and I have a reason to get up and exercise! Watching T work her butt off is motivational and after being so immobile for the past 7 months (due to my foot) I need to get back into the game. And the beach weather should be coming soon so I need to get in shape! 6-pack, here I come!!!
Cup of coffee and then some more research! Have a good day! and good (non-religious) Easter or happy or something...

T - 1 day
In case you're wondering...it's T's birthday tomorrow!!! Woo Hoo, my baby is gonna be 34. Happy Birthday T! (Covering my bases in case I am not online tomorrow)
So we've been back to US for almost 2 weeks now. Since then I've created my profile on Monster, uploaded my resume to countless job sites and applied to one job. No news yet.I still have little over a month of school left and then who knows where we will be. I'll keep you posted.
Finland was a lot of fun and I'm so happy I was able to introduce T to my family and friends and show her around and her actually really liking it. It's little different coming from the craziness that is New York to the quietness of Finland. But we had a blast and T was able to buy her share of Finnish products and stimulate the Finnish economy. She has a keen eye for all things Finnish now...She'll spot Marimekko, Iittala, Golla and Muumi anywhere! It's almost like she has a Finndar!
This past weekend was crazy...On Saturday we saw practically every family member in the tri-state area and didn't come home till after 10pm. Felt like a circus monkey. We saw her mom, her dad and his family, her brothers and their wives and obviously Carly who took her first 2 steps while I was in the bathroom! Bad timing on my part! On Monday T's mom calls her to tell her that Carly is now really walking and so she had to call Billy. We might see them all this Saturday for T's birthday so we will see for ourselves how well she's doing. We also saw T's Aunt Jane who got out of the hospital few days before after having a mini stroke. Her husband has Alzheimer's so she has a lot on her plate and it finally caught up with her. She did not look her usual bubbly self at all! It's a bad situation that's not getting any better.
In the midst of all of this we had a few minutes to stop by at the Woodbury commons to check out a suit for me and we found one! It's a black pin-stripe suit and I look really good in it (if I say so myself)! The pants could use a little hemming...or a LOT! I'm not the tallest of them all... On Sunday we went to Macy's and I got another suit, a gray one. I need few suits in case I get a second interview with a company...Anyway, now I need to find shoes to go with them and get them shortened and then I'm good to go!
Anyway...that's about it. Tomorrow will be spent on celebrating T's big day, lunch and a movie with her best friend CJ and for dinner I'm making the salmon my mom made while we were in Finland. It now is one of T's fave dishes.
Love you babe! Happy Birthday!
