Much to blog about nothing

I'm still unemployed.
I'm still bored.
I haven't won the lottery yet.
Cats don't speak either Finnish or English and my cat is kinda limited so it's very quiet here during the day.
I am sitting on the bed because the upstairs TV is working.
Sony guy is coming tomorrow between 8am and noon. Talk about early wake up for me!
It's raining. What else is new?
I was supposed to go to the gym today but then it started to rain.
When the rain stopped I wanted to go to the pool (sunny and hot) but then it started to rain again. So here I am blogging.
I need to make better plans.

But we have great plans for the next few weekends and weeks.
This Sunday is NYC pride which we are OBVIOUSLY going! Gonna be awesome!
The NJ state fair opens tomorrow so we might go ride some rides, win some teddy bears and eat some cotton candy. The weekend after that we are heading to Rehoboth Beach in Delaware to spend the 4th of July weekend with Colette and Paul. That's gonna be good times! We're taking our bikes with us, lay in the sun, go to the beach, drink and eat and relax! Then the following Tuesday we have a Mets game to go to! Awesome!

Technology SUCKS!!!

It totally does! We had a power outage on Tuesday and after that the upstairs cable box wasn't working so we had no TV for few days until T asked me if we could just attach the cable from the box to the TV and get the basic TV...so I did that on Wednesday night and we had TV upstairs again. We called Comcast on Tuesday to see if they could do something remotely but it wasn't working so they sent a tech today and now we have a brand new box upstairs and the TV is working again.

I had to get up super early this morning because I had to make sure I was up when the guy came. His allocated time was between 11am and 1pm but he was here little after 10am. When I say early I mean early for us unemployed people who do not need to get up at 5:30 am to go to the gym before work like my lovely, awesome dedicated T does. I can sleep in late and stay in bed for as long as I want or for as long as the cats let me, which ever comes first. So i came downstairs and turned on our brand-spanking-new 10 month old Sony frigging Bravia 46 inch wide screen TV...the green power sign blinked and blinked and blinked and it made the "on" sound and then it went red...it's blinking red...red...red and some more red and nothing happens! AWESOME! So I fought with the TV for 40 minutes before the Comcast guy arrived AND are you ready for this? My almost 2 year old Dell fucking computer with Windows the-best-ever-user-system-Vista froze on me! It got to the point where it shows the icons on the desktop and messenger screen appeared but then nothing. Mouse wasn't working, the Control-Alt-Del command wasn't working so I turned it off and then back on...and this comes on!

I've had so many problems with this computer and it's soft and hardware...my last computer had every imaginable problem you can name!

When the C guy came here I asked him if he knows anything about turning TVs on and so he tried and then he told me it looks like it's busted. It's so funny how we have a TV that's probably older than me upstairs that's working, and a new and supposedly better technology TV downstairs that just crapped out. After the Comcast guy left I called Sony help center to see if there was anything I could try. I read my owners manual and the troubleshooting section there but they didn't even have "TV does not turn on" as an option there! WTF?!?!?

The lady on the phone was nice though and she scheduled a tech to come take a look at our TV next Thursday so until then we have no TV downstairs. We bought a 4 year extended warranty on our TV so at least it's covered. But I gotta tell you, I'm getting pretty frigging tired with all these problems. T pointed out that it's probably me because her old big as TV was fine before we moved in together and the it died...which is why we bought this Sony in the first place...her old small TV which is upstairs was fine before we moved in together and now it's showing signs of old age...(although I think it's Comcast and not the TV)...my first computer had battery, charger, hardware and blue screen of death problems...and now I have this lovely Dell with Windows Vista...need I say more?? Although it's the Vista, not me!

Yeah, so that's been my morning and week so far. I have been applying to jobs all over the place but no bites. I'm not even getting the insurance company calls and e-mails anymore! I'm going crazy...as nice as the cats are, they don't talk to me...this is a picture from this morning when we came downstairs and I was fighting with the TV and my computer. It's a sad sad existence for the cats!

T suggested that I'll go take a walk so I'm gonna go to our neighborhood Dunkin Donuts and get a FREE large caramel latte and maybe a donut to go with it. The gym can wait for few hours. If you wanna know about the Philly parade, go to T's blog. This weekend we are gonna see T's family, it's a fathers day here on Sunday so we are having a breakfast at Johnny's house on Saturday and then spend some time with Carly and who knows whats going on on Sunday. Next weekend is NYC parade and we are gonna have so much fun! There is obviously no midsummer festivities here as we are much more south than Finland is...We are hoping that we can spend next midsummer in Finland and I can show T the nightless night. But before that I need to get a job so that I can save for that trip! Keep your fingers crossed!
Hyvää Juhannusta!

My luck

Since I prematurely predicted Finland's win over Russia today and said a day cannot get any better than going to the gym, getting Dunkin Donuts coffee and Finland beating Russia, I got what was coming to me! The coffee was terrible and Finland definitely did not do what I said, quite the contrary...so, since that didn't come true I think I am definitely getting a job in the next few weeks AND winning the lottery! Whether that is the green card lottery or the monetary one, I don't care! But stay tuned, I have some BIG news coming soon!

It's been almost a month since I had my last class and I am fast becoming a desperate housewife! I even made a weekly schedule for myself so that I don't go crazy just yet. It includes the gym (my only human contact beside T these days and the weekends full of exciting plans), laundry, cleaning, job hunting...and T has probably never been fed so well in her life! I am becoming a master chef! Awesome, right?

The cats are also happy that I'm home...they nap, nap, nap, eat, poop and nap some more. I also brush them every day, play a little with which ever cat seems interested and disturb their naps whenever I can. They try to get me up and feed them every morning so it's only fair. As Finland now lost 3-0 to Russia, Sox slept through it but Bailey decided it was better for her to go nap upstairs as she was kinda scared of me yelling to apparently no-one. It is not like I would have wanted to see Finland play in South-Africa...I have a feeling we will not reach Euro or World Cup tournament in my lifetime. And once Jari Litmanen and Sami Hyypiä retire, we are gonna suck even more.

This weekend we are heading to to Pennsylvania and the Philly pride parade. It's our first time ever in that pride and we're hoping the weather is gonna be sunny cuz it sure hasn't been that way this week. Then in 2 weeks we're going to the NYC parade.

Hope ya'll are having a better week and a month than me! Later

Memorial Day weekend

Last weekend was Memorial Day weekend and we had a lot of fun. It got started already on Thursday night with the Bruce concert, on Friday T had a half a day at work so she got home early and it was also my graduation day. Since we had an activity packed weekend ahead I didn't wanna go out on Friday night and risk T getting worse so we ordered Chinese (I should have been born Chinese the way I can eat Chinese food) and stayed in.

On Saturday we had a BBQ at Tara and Deanna's and their friends Kara, Dahlia, Elizabeth and Kathy were there too. We sat outside, ate monster burgers, corn and hot dogs and played with the boys. We got to witness Gavin's first steps as well. They are so cute! We had a good time with them and hopefully we get to spend more time with them this summer. Earlier that day we opened the summer season by the pool.

We were home around midnight and then the next day had a BBQ at T's friend Chris' house at noon. I was not prepared for the 9am wake up! Little hangover...

I finally met T's homeboys Calvin and Jaime and a bunch of others as well. It was a nice a +25C day if not hotter and it was raining and thundering at times. Chris and Mari live at the top of a hill where you can see the rain and thunder across the sky. We sat outside, played games, ate and drank. Oh those jello shots! After we left we went to her moms house and took a little power nap before heading home.

Monday we spend by the pool and took a little swim, the water was so nice! it's nice having a pool here but it's gonna be crowded this summer with all the new houses that were built this past year. I have been home searching for jobs this past week and can tell you that this housewife stuff isn't fun! I applied for 4 jobs yesterday and already got a rejection from one of them! It's a dog eat dog world out there man!
But at least I have the cats to keep me company so...it's all good as you can see!

Happy graduation step mama

Now clean my poop!

I stayed in bed this morning long enough for someone to bring me breakfast in bed for my graduation...Since T had left to work at 7:30am as usual, it clearly was not her that would do that. It was up to the cats to do that...and since they are cats and cannot cook, it came down to them to coming upstairs and getting me up. Which they did (the secret is to stay in bed long enough so that they are hungry and can't wait for heir food anymore so they come looking for me) first Sox and then Bailey. As soon as B hit the room I was up. All I wanted was some love from my step kids! Is that too much to ask? I don't think so!

Anyway, I came downstairs and there it was, my graduation present! In front of the garage door was a pick pile of POOP! awesome! Happy graduation, clean my poop and feed me! I think that present was from Sox...now if Bailey is gonna puke my day would be perfect! LOL!

Last night we went to see Bruce Springsteen at the Izod center. He was AWESOME! The place was rocking and shaking and he was so amazing. Too bad I only knew 2 of his songs! Next time, if there's a next time, I'll be more prepared! T is on her dead bed, she's been sick since Sunday and yesterday was not a good night for her. We have a big plans for this weekend so I think tonight we're gonna stay in and make her better.

Job hunt continues...

Have a great weekend everyone! Later

It's a tough life

But somebody's gotta do it. Eating, sleeping and pooping. No problem with intellectual boredom. And no, I'm not talking about my desperate housewife existence right now. I'm talking about the cats. We covered the top of our couches with fleece blankets and now we're happy if we see Sox upstairs. She does not move unless it's for the bathroom or to eat. She has not tag teamed me once this week with Bailey in the morning. Starting to feel little unloved here. The longer I stay in bed in the morning, better chances there is for both of them waking me up. Nope, not now. Bailey does her part but Sox stays downstairs and doesn't even move to come greet me or get up until she hears the food in the bowl. Today I left for the gym and Sox was on the couch. I came back home and she had not moved. Tough. So I took a chair outside and left the door open for them to come sniff the outside air. B was nowhere to be seen but so I toughed maybe Sox will come check it out. before I know i it's Bailey on the door. Had to make sure she doesn't run away cuz she would be REALLY difficult to catch if she got out. Sox wasn't impressed. So now I have the door ajar just a little bit for them to smell the air but not to be able to open it. Bailey's crying inside, she wants out. Too bad they can't be taken out because on a day like this I'd love to take them out and smell the fresh air and get some exercise. But they are indoor cats and we don't have leashes for them. And getting them on a leash would be a struggle anyway.

As for me...I'm officially graduating on Friday and now am on a 2 week vacation before I can start working. I've been surfing the job sites and found few interesting jobs. I didn't apply yet because I am not necessarily qualified BUT as T said yesterday...(thank god for brilliant partners) what's the worst that can happen? they don't contact me...I'm not sure if that's true. The worst is that they interview me, decide I'm what they are looking for and hire me! and I can't do the job! We've been talking about "fake it till you make it" in regards to other things lately and I'm afraid that what if I am able to fake it so well that somebody hires me and then realizes I'm not able to deliver!?! Obviously they would teach me what I needed to do and I didn't know what I was supposed to o when I started as a student assistant but still...it's scary!

I just need to jump in and let go of the fear. You kin do it!

Our social calendar is full once again...tomorrow night we will go see Bruce Springsteen in the Meadowlands, on Friday is my official graduation which we will be celebrating just the two of us. On Saturday and Sunday we have bbq's to go to and Monday is open. After the 4 day I think we will need to just hang and relax. The weekend after we're seeing our friend Erin and then 2 weeks from that is the Philly pride parade. At the end of June is the NYC pride parade...good times! And at some point I'd like to start working. I NEED to start working! On a day like today when it's Sunny and warm it would be awesome if T was off too and we could do something. Now I'm kinda stuck at home and this housewife bs is SO not for me. It's good that I have something to do (laundry, cleaning, cooking and taking care of the furry children) but at some point my brain will start leaking and all this newly acquired information and education will leave my evaporate! But there are some good things to it...like right now I'm outside sitting in a chair, blogging and drinking my favorite Dunkin Donuts iced coffee...working on my tan. I came home from the gym about an hour ago. I have Bruce singing to me a private concert inside...life is good. Would be better if T was sitting next to me and we had corona's in our hands but that will happen in few days so I cannot complain. Unless she gets sicker. She has a scratchy throat.

It's weird being in the center of things but still being out of it. I'm talking about the swine flu. You see these clips and pictures from Asia where people are wearing masks and you see stories in the news about schools being closed in NYC and in NJ and how a principal died from it in NYC and I haven't really seen it anywhere. Granted I haven't been to the city, but it seems so distant and yet it's still here, only few miles away. T said she's seen people wearing masks in the city bu they have mostly been random Asians. I haven't seen anybody and the only "contact" I've had was through the international office at school when they had a meeting about it and when the school sent an e-mail about it. That's it. There's no panic, no precautionary steps taken...weird. Life goes on.

I gotta go now...later peeps

It's (almost) official

Today was my last day at work. I'm officially unemployed until I can find a job. Today's also officially the last day of school, although we have some presentations tomorrow also. I need to hand in my paper tomorrow but I'm almost done with it...22 pages and counting. Few more and then I'm done.

It's scary though...I'm a planner and I always had a plan but now it's wide open. We don't even know where we are gonna land! So wish us luck...

I will try to blog either tomorrow or Friday but it's gonna happen soon! I have some stuff I wanna say about the Biggest loser final which was yesterday.

Later peeps!
