Last weekend was Memorial Day weekend and we had a lot of fun. It got started already on Thursday night with the Bruce concert, on Friday T had a half a day at work so she got home early and it was also my graduation day. Since we had an activity packed weekend ahead I didn't wanna go out on Friday night and risk T getting worse so we ordered Chinese (I should have been born Chinese the way I can eat Chinese food) and stayed in.
On Saturday we had a BBQ at Tara and Deanna's and their friends Kara, Dahlia, Elizabeth and Kathy were there too. We sat outside, ate monster burgers, corn and hot dogs and played with the boys. We got to witness Gavin's first steps as well. They are so cute! We had a good time with them and hopefully we get to spend more time with them this summer. Earlier that day we opened the summer season by the pool.
We were home around midnight and then the next day had a BBQ at T's friend Chris' house at noon. I was not prepared for the 9am wake up! Little hangover...
I finally met T's homeboys Calvin and Jaime and a bunch of others as well. It was a nice a +25C day if not hotter and it was raining and thundering at times. Chris and Mari live at the top of a hill where you can see the rain and thunder across the sky. We sat outside, played games, ate and drank. Oh those jello shots! After we left we went to her moms house and took a little power nap before heading home.
Monday we spend by the pool and took a little swim, the water was so nice! it's nice having a pool here but it's gonna be crowded this summer with all the new houses that were built this past year. I have been home searching for jobs this past week and can tell you that this housewife stuff isn't fun! I applied for 4 jobs yesterday and already got a rejection from one of them! It's a dog eat dog world out there man!
But at least I have the cats to keep me company so...it's all good as you can see!

Happy graduation step mama
Now clean my poop!
I stayed in bed this morning long enough for someone to bring me breakfast in bed for my graduation...Since T had left to work at 7:30am as usual, it clearly was not her that would do that. It was up to the cats to do that...and since they are cats and cannot cook, it came down to them to coming upstairs and getting me up. Which they did (the secret is to stay in bed long enough so that they are hungry and can't wait for heir food anymore so they come looking for me) first Sox and then Bailey. As soon as B hit the room I was up. All I wanted was some love from my step kids! Is that too much to ask? I don't think so!
Anyway, I came downstairs and there it was, my graduation present! In front of the garage door was a pick pile of POOP! awesome! Happy graduation, clean my poop and feed me! I think that present was from Sox...now if Bailey is gonna puke my day would be perfect! LOL!
Last night we went to see Bruce Springsteen at the Izod center. He was AWESOME! The place was rocking and shaking and he was so amazing. Too bad I only knew 2 of his songs! Next time, if there's a next time, I'll be more prepared! T is on her dead bed, she's been sick since Sunday and yesterday was not a good night for her. We have a big plans for this weekend so I think tonight we're gonna stay in and make her better.
Job hunt continues...
Have a great weekend everyone! Later

It's a tough life
But somebody's gotta do it. Eating, sleeping and pooping. No problem with intellectual boredom. And no, I'm not talking about my desperate housewife existence right now. I'm talking about the cats. We covered the top of our couches with fleece blankets and now we're happy if we see Sox upstairs. She does not move unless it's for the bathroom or to eat. She has not tag teamed me once this week with Bailey in the morning. Starting to feel little unloved here. The longer I stay in bed in the morning, better chances there is for both of them waking me up. Nope, not now. Bailey does her part but Sox stays downstairs and doesn't even move to come greet me or get up until she hears the food in the bowl. Today I left for the gym and Sox was on the couch. I came back home and she had not moved. Tough. So I took a chair outside and left the door open for them to come sniff the outside air. B was nowhere to be seen but so I toughed maybe Sox will come check it out. before I know i it's Bailey on the door. Had to make sure she doesn't run away cuz she would be REALLY difficult to catch if she got out. Sox wasn't impressed. So now I have the door ajar just a little bit for them to smell the air but not to be able to open it. Bailey's crying inside, she wants out. Too bad they can't be taken out because on a day like this I'd love to take them out and smell the fresh air and get some exercise. But they are indoor cats and we don't have leashes for them. And getting them on a leash would be a struggle anyway.
As for me...I'm officially graduating on Friday and now am on a 2 week vacation before I can start working. I've been surfing the job sites and found few interesting jobs. I didn't apply yet because I am not necessarily qualified BUT as T said yesterday...(thank god for brilliant partners) what's the worst that can happen? they don't contact me...I'm not sure if that's true. The worst is that they interview me, decide I'm what they are looking for and hire me! and I can't do the job! We've been talking about "fake it till you make it" in regards to other things lately and I'm afraid that what if I am able to fake it so well that somebody hires me and then realizes I'm not able to deliver!?! Obviously they would teach me what I needed to do and I didn't know what I was supposed to o when I started as a student assistant but still...it's scary!
I just need to jump in and let go of the fear. You kin do it!
Our social calendar is full once again...tomorrow night we will go see Bruce Springsteen in the Meadowlands, on Friday is my official graduation which we will be celebrating just the two of us. On Saturday and Sunday we have bbq's to go to and Monday is open. After the 4 day I think we will need to just hang and relax. The weekend after we're seeing our friend Erin and then 2 weeks from that is the Philly pride parade. At the end of June is the NYC pride parade...good times! And at some point I'd like to start working. I NEED to start working! On a day like today when it's Sunny and warm it would be awesome if T was off too and we could do something. Now I'm kinda stuck at home and this housewife bs is SO not for me. It's good that I have something to do (laundry, cleaning, cooking and taking care of the furry children) but at some point my brain will start leaking and all this newly acquired information and education will leave my evaporate! But there are some good things to it...like right now I'm outside sitting in a chair, blogging and drinking my favorite Dunkin Donuts iced coffee...working on my tan. I came home from the gym about an hour ago. I have Bruce singing to me a private concert inside...life is good. Would be better if T was sitting next to me and we had corona's in our hands but that will happen in few days so I cannot complain. Unless she gets sicker. She has a scratchy throat.
It's weird being in the center of things but still being out of it. I'm talking about the swine flu. You see these clips and pictures from Asia where people are wearing masks and you see stories in the news about schools being closed in NYC and in NJ and how a principal died from it in NYC and I haven't really seen it anywhere. Granted I haven't been to the city, but it seems so distant and yet it's still here, only few miles away. T said she's seen people wearing masks in the city bu they have mostly been random Asians. I haven't seen anybody and the only "contact" I've had was through the international office at school when they had a meeting about it and when the school sent an e-mail about it. That's it. There's no panic, no precautionary steps taken...weird. Life goes on.
I gotta go now...later peeps

It's (almost) official
Today was my last day at work. I'm officially unemployed until I can find a job. Today's also officially the last day of school, although we have some presentations tomorrow also. I need to hand in my paper tomorrow but I'm almost done with it...22 pages and counting. Few more and then I'm done.
It's scary though...I'm a planner and I always had a plan but now it's wide open. We don't even know where we are gonna land! So wish us luck...
I will try to blog either tomorrow or Friday but it's gonna happen soon! I have some stuff I wanna say about the Biggest loser final which was yesterday.
Later peeps!

Unconditional love
I don't really have anything funny to tell or any news to share so I'm just gonna write whatever is on my mind...Some of it might be tmi...TMI, put since this is MY blog and these are MY stories...I can write whatever I want!
I have a new definition for unconditional love... it's when you are sitting in the bathroom, working on the number 2 and someone is rubbing themselves against your leg and asking for attention. Doesn't matter that it's potentially smelly. They sit on the floor facing the door like they are guarding the door and making sure no one comes in...and then they move outside on the rug and guard the whole area. That's Bailey for you. Apparently me being in the bathroom is a great stepmama-daughter bonding time. Doesn't matter that it smells...as long as you are able to reach her and pet her that's all that matters to her. (Mind you we do not do this reverse because...well, it just isn't cute!) Bailey, as scared as everything as she is, has the biggest, most loving heart...If you have seen Shrek and the scene where Puss in Boots is introduced and he looks at Shrek (or could be the Donkey) with those BIG sad whoa-is-me-eyes...that's what I wake up every day! (Puss attacks Shrek/Donkey in that scene...Bailey doesn't do that) Bailey just wants to be petted and for me to get up so that she can get food!
Anyway...tmi I'm sure!
I've had a headache since Monday and it became a full blown migraine on Tuesday. I didn't have anything to take for it at home so I thought I'd go to the pharmacy on my way to work. Since the weather was so nice, over 20 degrees C, I thought I'd put on my contact lenses and wear my sun classes. Not long after I put my contacts on I started to lose my eye sight, in my vision there were areas where I couldn't see and at the edge I started to see the zig zag pattern. I took the contacts off and left. Started to feel nauseous a little. I bought the pills, got a cup of coffee from DD and went to work. When I got there my headache was pounding and I felt like I was about to throw up. I stayed for like an half an hour before I realized I wouldn't be able to work so I left and went home. After I got out of the bus a wave of nausea just hit me. I threw up everything I had in me and then walked home, went to bed and put a wet, cold cloth over my head. That's where I stayed till T came home. Then yesterday my headache was still there and for the longest time felt like it wasn't going away. I did come to work because the "new-me", my replacement Rebeca was coming and I needed to show her what to do and how to do it (obviously my shoes are really hard to fill but she seems to get it. A quick study. And as my boss said..."this isn't brain surgery). I also had a presentation at my first class and there were other people presenting at my second class so I needed to be here. Got home around 11:30pm and now here I am at work again. Last day for this week. The 8th last day ever...at this job anyway! Last day of school is in 2 weeks...can you believe it!?!?!
Another "can you believe it" thing...Yesterday I had my first cup of coffee at 4:30pm! Can you believe it????It never happens. I did have a headache which took away from my taste/need/want for coffee but still. Pretty good for me.
I'll try to blog again soon...Later!

gym and job and this and that
So a week ago we decided to join the gym around the corner from us. T has been missing the gym since her power skank house gym in the city was closed down, bankrupt, went under...whatever and she was only working out twice a week with her trainer. As for me...I've been laying low for the past 19 months since moving to the states and even a free gym access at the school didn't help me so we thought it would be a good idea to workout together. Now T is a hardcore bad ass when it comes to working out. She does not F around...she printed out some circuit workouts and off we went on Saturday morning at 8am. I was so done that I was only able to finish 4 of the 5 circuits (each consisted of 3 different exercises) before feeling nauseated and having to go rest and catch my breath at the locker room. I hadn't eaten anything beforehand so I was also hungry and physically tired afterwards. We went to Dunkin Donuts, got some breakfast, took a shower and relaxed for the rest of the day. We did go to Target to get a George Foreman grill because we wanna make healthier food and we've been talking about it for awhile. We haven't tried it yet because the fridge is full of leftover but soon...but back to my gym story!
I was walking like a duck yesterday and my ass, thighs and chest were hurting! We didn't go to the gym on Sunday even though we were thinking about that. Chasing after Carly at T's moms yesterday was plenty of exercise. Carly is walking now so you need to be careful cuz if you leave her alone for one second, she's up the stairs so fast! On our way home we were talking about going to the gym this morning at 5:30 as T usually does in the mornings...I guess she was thinking I was full of it when I said I'd be there. Her alarm goes off, she goes to the bathroom and when she comes out I'm half way in my gym clothes...She's like OM, I wasn't thinking you were coming or I would have woken you up! So at 5 friggin forty am we're out of the house! we rode the bike 5 minutes for a warm up and did our 5 circuits. Boy is my ass hurting right now! It took us about an hour, we came back home, I made my coffee, fed the cats and T got ready for going to work. I dunno how she does it but she's s SUPERWOMAN! The dedication...Wow! After she was out of the door I finished watching Monk, took a shower, ate some breakfast and was out of the door at 9:10. I am gonna try to do this every Monday with her because the workout is so much more intense when you do it with someone else than by yourself. We are gonna try to workout 2-3 times a week together and the rest alone. I might go 4 times a week and when I go alone maybe do have cardio, half circuit or just cardio...since we joined a week ago on Monday (the first day of actual workout) I've been there 5 times now in 8 days! Are you impressed or what??? Tomorrow morning though...I'm sleeping in!
Moving on...About an hour ago my phone rang and now that I'm looking for a job I can't turn down phone calls... This is somewhat how the conversation went:
Woman: hello, is this Jenni
J: Yes
W: I'm calling about the resume you posted on Monster. Are you currently employed?
J: I'm graduating in May so I have 1 more month to go
W: From where are you graduating? High School or College?
J: From college with a Master's Degree
W: With what degree?
J: Environmental Management
W: Oh, that's a big one...So you don't have any work experience?
J: Actually I do and I'm currently working at the school also.
W: Oh, filing and Stuff?
J: Among other things
W: Oh ok...well let me tell you something about the company...we are something something company, and we provide supplemental insurance coverage for blah blah blah........
J: Actually I'm an international student and can only work on my major field of study so I cannot work for an insurance company.
W: oh, ok...bye
J: bye
Yeah...INSURANCE COMPANY!!! not that there's anything wrong with insurance company's calling but a) I cannot work for them, that's the law and b) before you call me READ MY RESUME!!! I mean seriously! I posted my resume so that I could find a job BUT I also spent hours on doing it so the LEAST you could do before you call me is to READ it and get to know my qualifications! ARGH!
But I'm over it now...
Gotta go back to work! Later
